What's Going on at My Casa

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a nice weekend. I've been fighting a cold so not much DIY has been happening here but I thought I'd give everyone an update as to what we've been up to!

1. Garage Progress: we have had a few people in to quote on different parts of the garage building. We are currently waiting on a call from our tree "guy" because we are going to have to cut down a small tree in our backyard to make room for the garage. Originally, we were trying to not cut any trees down but it just didn't work. Luckily, while the tree is tall, it is small in circumference so we won't have to deal with the Toronto tree police. Can't wait to have a home for our car!

2. Hole in the Ceiling: Remember back in November when we had a small plumbing problem? Yes, well the hole in our kitchen ceiling was FINALLY fixed. Needs one more coat but I am no longer looking at exposed plumbing when I eat. An interesting side note - when our contractor friend who helped us cover the hole came by he noticed that there must have been a fire here years ago because some of the beams in the ceiling were black! Crazy!

3. Bathroom Reno: We've started getting a few people in to quote on our bathroom. Unfortunately for us, it isn't a DIY job since it involves ripping down a wall and moving loads of plumbing. Also, since it is our only bathroom, I don't think just plugging away on it evenings and weekends will get it done in a reasonable time period. A lot to do in this category - figuring out the layout is probably the first task.  We are thinking about getting a designer involved to help us out... In the meantime - does anyone have any recommendations on where to buy a bath tub? We are thinking of something free standing...

4. Purchases: While I wasn't able to find that special chair from Home Sense for our family room, but we did have some success at what we fondly refer to as the "sh&% sale" (the antique sale at St. Lawrence Market). Photos to come soon because I will need some help to decide what to do with what we bought!!

5. Dressing Room: I am spending this week and next weekend emptying out the room, sanding the walls and painting the trim. Should have the wallpaper up the weekend after that :-)
