Last weekend we did a bit of shopping around looking for a mirror for over the sideboard and chairs for the family room. Once we finished the media stand, we couldn't help but realize that we definitely need some chairs to flank it. I sold our old Ikea beater on craigslist (gotta love craigslist!) so we are lacking in places to sit if friends come over.
We ordered 2 Martine chairs from Restoration Hardware back in December to serve as both end chairs for the dining room table and as chairs in the living room, but we realize they may also work as side chairs in the family room. That is when I decided to follow up with RH about the chairs since they were estimated to arrive early February.
I receive an email back from RH saying that unfortunately they have been backordered until MAY. MAY, people. Can you believe that? And they didn't even contact me to tell me! I had to ask!
Anyways - rant over. All of this to say that we realized that we need to get on this chair hunt.
We hunted, didn't find any chairs that weren't over 800 each or covered in uber-synthetic fabric (you know the kind - supposed to look like velvet but ends up looking like plastic?).
We came home with this though:
Don't mind the fact that it is resting on a blanket and that it is dark as hell in there. We found it at Home Sense and like it because it was the right size (I think) and seemed like it would match - it was a redish dark colour and the inside bit was kind of bronzy like the pulls on the sideboard.
However now that it is in the room, it comes off almost black. Granted we have no sun or anything but now I'm not sure.
What do you guys think? Should it be bigger? A different colour? A different shape?
Also - if you see any reasonably priced chairs that would work in our family room, let a fellow blogger know!
TIA :)
